I'll try and find the article, but another paper I believe, later printed a retraction that claimed the time of death was later. Since no one else picked up though, I've often wondered if the retraction itself was an error.

I don't put a lot of faith in the Tribune crime reporting since the fiasco with the Grimes case. FYI, we found out that the Trib and other Chicago papers sugar coated the Grimes reporting due to pressure from City Hall and the Back Of The Yards Council. We found much more accurate information in newswire articles that were reported in out of area papers.

I'll try and find the clipping tonight that mentions the later time of death. It is interesting how bits of evidence sometimes turn up in papers in other parts of the country. Stars and Stripes for instance.

Stars and Stripes got the story from UPI, United Press International that maintained a network of reporters all over the world. We found better coverage on the Grimes Case from out of town newspapers that got their stories from UPI or other reporting services. Tried to find an archives section for UPI, but no luck.
